The Elhovo municipality is situated in the southeast part of the Republic of Bulgaria and is included in the administrative unit of the District of Yambol. It borders the Topolovgrad municipality, District of Haskovo, to the southwest, the Bolyarovo municipality to the east, the Republic of Turkey to the southeast, and the Tounja municipality to the north.
The total territory which Elhovo municipality occupies is around 708 sq. km and covers 22 settlements - 1 town and 21 villages, 11 of which are governed by local Mayors which
are the villages of: Granitovo, Malak Manastir, Boyanovo, Melnitsa, Lessovo, Izgrev, Pchela, Malomirovo, Kirilovo, Razdel and Zhrebino.

Elhovo is on the left bank of the Tundzha between the Strandzha and Sakar mountains. It has a long history where the first settlers came about 6000 years ago. In more recent times Elhovo has seen an influx of British interest in the town. With a population of around 11,000 the town has seen some investment in it's infrastructure, mainly due to the demand of foreigners from many the UK settling there. There is still a long way to go but it has a nice modern pedestrian centre and all the faciltities you would expect from an up and coming town. In future years this town should prosper from increased tourism and another wave of property hunters looking further inland from the coast for bargains. If you want to be tucked away in the Bulgarian countryside but at the same time have to have other British around for support, living then this will certainly would appeal to you.
It has a Fruit bazaar twice weekly and also a larger bazaar where you can purchase almost anything. And has a hospital and medical centre.
